Excelsis Gloria!
The
Cathedral of Saint Paul is proud to announce the release of: In
Excelsis Gloria! a
new CD of Advent and Christmas music sung by the Cathedral Choir. Enjoy
the traditional favorites “O Holy Night” and “Lo, How a Rose,” as well
as other choral gems such as Franz Biebl's “Ave Maria” and Morten Laurdisen's
“O nata lux.

James Biery. Premiere performance of this new work based on a text by
Marilyn Biery, translated into Latin by Maryann Corbett. Recorded live
at the Cathedral Festival of Readings and Carols on Sunday, December
17, 2006, under the direction of Marilyn Biery. Nikki Christopher, harp.

Saint
Cecilia Choir, Schola, Oboe, Handbells and Harp :
O Come Divine Messiah, arranged by James Biery. The Saint Cecilia Choir,
under the direction of Marilyn Biery, sings a new arrangement of the
traditional hymn by James Biery. The entire choir sings the first, second,
and end of the third verse, the Schola (the Cathedral's choir for teenage
girls) sings the newly composed melody to the beginning of the third
stanza, the handbells are played by three teenage boys, and the oboist
is Laura Biery. Nikki Christopher plays the harp. The arrangement was
premiered at the Cathedral Festival of Readings and Carols on Sunday,
December 17, 2006.
